Craftsmanship

Time-honoured techniques. Hands that carry tradition.

At Alpacaya, craftsmanship is everything.
Each of our products is handmade in Peru by artisans whose skills have been passed down through generations — techniques rooted in Andean culture, preserved with pride, and practiced with care.

We don’t rush. We don’t mass-produce.
Instead, we honour the slow, intentional process that brings every pair of slippers, every handwoven bag, and every alpaca figurine to life.

🧵 The Makers

Our artisan partners live and work in and around Cusco, in small family-run workshops and community cooperatives. From weaving and stitching to fur shaping and finishing, each piece is touched by skilled hands and made with heart.

By working directly with artisans, we ensure:

  • Fair pay and dignified working conditions

  • Respect for traditional craftsmanship

  • Economic support for rural Andean communities

🦙 The Materials

We work exclusively with natural, sustainable materials, including:

  • Baby alpaca fur, sourced ethically from free-roaming alpacas (no animals are ever harmed)

  • Handwoven textiles dyed with natural pigments

  • Soft cotton linings and leather soles, chosen for comfort and durability

These materials don’t just feel good — they tell a story of origin, ecology, and soul.

✨ Made to Be Treasured

Alpacaya pieces are not seasonal. They’re heirloom-quality essentials made to bring you joy for years to come.

When you wear or gift something from Alpacaya, you’re not just buying a product — you’re becoming part of a tradition that values slowness, beauty, and respect.
